Supporting the girls’ education in the post-COVID-19 world, PM Johnson promised aid of £55m particularly in Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Pakistan. The package aims at educating almost 40mn girls in low-income countries to receive 12 years of primary education. The U.K. and Kenya will be holding a fundraising campaign in July. Along with the G7 countries, Britain hopes to include 20mn girls more.
The investment comes amid the crisis faced by developing countries due to the pandemic, PM Johnson calls it “one of the smartest investments we can make.”
