Established in 1994, ISBM-SGVU offers quality-based management education with the mission of transforming students to shine brighter academically and professionally. At that time, it was part of Gyan Vihar College. It is an academic ecosystem that has been actively promoting education for a century now. The university was originally established by Sri Purushottam Uttam Ji (freedom fighter), who started free education to prepare the people of Jaipur in the 1920s.

His passion to spread education was resourceful to create empowered individuals in Rajasthan. His dream culminated in the form of many institutions which are currently spreading quality education. Gyan Vihar University, Gyan Vihar School, Gyan Vihar World School, and other institutions are making headway to spread comprehensive education and strengthen society. Later, the college got elevated to a university in 2008, and ISBM is now a part of Suresh Gyan Vihar University – SGVU.

The Maestros of the Institute

A renowned environmentalist, Dr. Sudhanshu is the chief mentor of the university. Guiding with a focus on sustainable development and training students throughout their educational journey, he has counselled the youth towards excellence. He has personally designed and implemented many support programs for small enterprises, tribal youth, and unemployed youth. Many academicians, scholars, writers, and corporate leaders are part of the team which is helping ISBM. Along with him, a prominent thinker, writer, and orator- Sunil Sharma has always given the university the vision.

ISBM-SGVU’s Academic Prospects and Insights

ISBM – SGVU has an exclusive five-story building that has classrooms, a computer laboratory, a language laboratory, a Marketing and Advertising Lab, and Finance Lab. The university offers MBA, BBA, and B. Com Programs. These programs are offered in regular, distance education, and online modes. Many streams of specializations are available. The subjects of specializations are based on industry demand. In the contemporary scenario, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics, and Banking and Finance are the most preferred options.

Embracing Current Digital Learning

ISBM- SGVU offers management education in all three formats – regular, distance education, and online mode. It has adapted and prepared itself to meet the challenges of changing times. It has prepared and uploaded video lectures for helping the students. Some of these lectures are available on YouTube for the general public on SGVU ISBM E-Learning Channel (it is freely accessible for unlimited viewership).

Moodle is being used for educational management. The learning management system (LMS) on Moodle enables regular academic monitoring. For end-term examinations, an external agency has been hired to conduct online examinations. The use of the latest applications enables the smooth conduct of examinations. A large bunch of eBooks, online journals & content, case studies of HBS Publishing has subscribed for the availability of vast content creation to the students.

Excellent Initiatives for Students Growth Development

ISBM-SGVU entered into collaborations with BSE Institute, IBM, Google, Bosch, and other organizations to seek their expertise in offering courses that the industry requires. These courses are offered to the students to enable them to be industry-ready. Representatives of these companies act as mentors and guide the students. BSE Institute has been helping ISBM-SGVU in offering courses on Banking and Finance. IBM has helped in launching courses on Business Analytics, Google has helped in launching courses on Digital Marketing. Industrial mentors have helped the students to learn the advanced tools, techniques, and practices of the corporate world.

It uses “Success Score” – which is a unique initiative of SGVU to track progress of the students. It is a score that is based on self-assessment of students, who move ahead in soft skills, teamwork, community development, and other dimensions of personality development. The university has introduced a collegiate system for community engagement of students. The institute has encouraged its students to volunteer and social development through community forums. There are different community forums for different social projects – for example, the Green community promotes tree plantations.

Leveraging with the Current Dynamics

ISBM-SGVU has already prepared itself for the emerging challenges. E-Contents are developed, Online forums are active and students actively participate in online forums. The online community of students is active and it creates a learning eco-system.

ISBM-SGVU has a choice-based credit system. Students are encouraged to pick up online courses from MOOCs, NPTEL, SWAYAM, COURSERA, etc. ISBM-SGVU has entered in collaboration with Coursera to offer free online courses to the students. Students are also encouraged to take up online courses from various international institutions which are having collaboration with ISBM-SGVU. Academic flexibility and the opportunity to pursue diversified courses enable students to take up different courses and gain expertise in their chosen fields.

ISBM-SGVU has an inter-disciplinary approach to learning. Experts from the Hotel Management department of the university come to teach students about dining etiquette. Experts from the Physiotherapy and Pharmacy department train students about Covid-19 precautions and preparations.

ISBM-SGVU has entered into collaborations with many international institutions and is offering management education through online mode to the students of those institutions. Similarly, these international institutions are offering their courses to the students. Kings University College at Western University, Ontario, Canada, and Sunshine Coast University, Queensland, Australia, have offered their courses in academic exchanges.

The Accolades Corner

ISBM – SGVU is a stellar performer that constantly receives awards for its academic contributions. The University has received a large number of awards and acknowledgments including the award for best e-campus, green campus, etc. The University got an A ranking with a score of 3.10 by NAAC in March 2017. This was the highest-ranking attained by any private university in Rajasthan at that time. Alumni of ISBM-SGVU are well placed in the corporate sector and a large number of them have become entrepreneurs.

A Game Changer

ISBM-SGVU is offering up to 90% scholarships for girls to encourage -Woman empowerment. It has an excellent environment for sports, social development initiatives, and volunteerism. Students are encouraged to organize sporting events. Recently, the students organized Regional Tournaments in Mini-Golf. Suresh Gyan Vihar University Jaipur has its Academic Staff College, which organizes FDPs, so that faculty members are well prepared to meet the challenges of the changing times.

There is a need to maintain a regular online connection with the students and their families. Each student is assigned a personal mentor, who interacts at least once a fortnight to ensure a personal connection with the students and counsels the student about contemporary times. Helping others is the way forward

ISBM-SGVU has prepared its plans for its transformation in the contemporary context. It is now focusing on helping other organizations, institutions, associations, and small-medium enterprises. It offers consultancies to small entrepreneurs from all over India on how to cope with modern-day challenges. The experiences shared by faculty members in the form of academic papers and popular newspaper articles. It also provides online training to entrepreneurs, industry associations, and small-scale enterprises free of charge.

The institute has contributed substantially towards the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Swadeshi’ movement by training and guiding local artisans, local industry groups, tribal youth, farmers, and more, in difficult times. This support has been beneficial to many people. It has prepared and submitted scenarios and road-maps to help many individuals sustain the current clock and grow their business radically. It is organized for the future and will strive to prepare its students to tackle their challenges in the new world.
